Welcome to CincySponge!
Have you ever:
- Felt nervous that if “Man on the Street” asked you who the mayor is, you’d fail miserably?
- Felt clueless as it relates to local issues?
- Scrambled to find your polling station, who’s running for office and what issues are on the ballot, when you’re supposed to be casting an educated vote?
- Wondered how to get involved locally?
- Desired to chat with other Cincinnatians about local topics of interest?
If so, you’ve come to the right place. Cincy Sponge was created by a diverse group of 11 locals who felt exactly the same way…a bit guilty that we had a reasonable grasp of the national issues, but little understanding of the local issues that affect us most. Together, we took a stroll through Ideasville and came up with the concept of creating a website that, like a ginormous sponge, would absorb the issues, link to local informational sources and provide a platform for getting engaged in this great city. We invite you to visit the links outlining the page, watch a video or two and converse on our social page aptly called “The Bucket”. In the process, we hope you become a saturated citizen, a true Cincy Sponge.
CincySponge.com
Absorb - Inform - Engage
Our Mission:
To educate citizens, create awareness of regional political and governmental activities and foster engagement in local decision-making. Create a single location for Cincinnati related government and political news, commentary and service information in order to create visibility and accountability.
Core Values
Engaging
Dynamic Accessible
Balanced
Direct Topical
Purpose
Create and host a Cincinnati political and governmental focused website that will be driven and updated by news and bloggers. The website uses dynamic RSS feeds to create a location where users can visit throughout the day and see new content from news sources and Cincinnati area commentators. Static content will serve as a source for government service websites, political party information, voter FAQ’s and other useful but hard to find information.
CincySponge.com will educate while holding sources accountable through visibility. If users like a headline that is created by an RSS feed, they will be directed to the source website. Sources will want to stay updated and accurate to drive people to their website. The goal is to create a “Drudge” type website for local politics, information and fun.
